Cavendish Close Infant and Nursery School is a Derby City LEA Community School.
It is not connected with any religious denomination and caters for children between the ages of three and seven years.
The school was built in 1952 and has been developed and improved constantly over recent years.
We have a 39-place nursery unit, 9 classrooms, attractive hall; purpose built dining room, central library, staff room and administrative offices.
Outside we have 2 playgrounds, several outdoor learning facilities, cheerfully decorated and access to the Junior School playing field.
After Easter this year we will have approximately 268 children on roll in the Infants while the Nursery has 39 full time equivalent places. For the forthcoming academic year (from September 2014 to July 2015) our estimated number on role will be 270. We are permitted to admit 90 new children whose fifth birthday will be between 1st September and 31st August the following year.
Before coming into the Infant School the children are given the opportunity to visit their new class and class teacher and meetings are held for parents to discuss the transfer into the Infants. Where a child has not attended our nursery there is an opportunity to have a look at the school and the activities that occur.
