Safety Celebration Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The school have been celebrating becoming an official Sun Safe School.\u00a0 All of the staff and children in school now think and behave like Sun Safe Superstars and the assembly was a perfect conclusion to a whole school project about safety in the sun.\u00a0 Everyone in school wears a sun hat outside and accesses high quality sunscreen for protection.\u00a0 The school is committed to including sun safety in their curriculum and the response from the children and their families has been overwhelmingly positive.\u00a0 Valuable support and resources was provided to the school by the Skcin charity.<br \/>\nSpecial guests from Derby County presented the school with a framed Sun Safe School certificate and stickers for every child.<br \/>\nMarc Edworthy played for Derby County between 2005 and 2008.\u00a0 He played 77 times as a defender.\u00a0 In 2007, Derby County were promoted to the Premier League.\u00a0 Marc was voted the Player of the season.\u00a0 The children were keen to ask Marc questions about his footballing career.\u00a0 Marc presented Year 2 children with the framed certificate and stickers.<br \/>\nLauren Asquith is a Disability Officer at Derby County.\u00a0 She told the children that Marc is playing in a charity cricket match on 24<sup>th<\/sup> July to raise money for the Derby County Disability Programme and the Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal.<br \/>\nThe school has raised an amazing \u00a32000 for the Colin Bloomfield Melanoma Appeal.\u00a0 Year 1 children presented Anthony Hubbard, the Technical Director from the Skcin Charity with the donation.\u00a0 Anthony talked to the children about the work of the charity. \u00a0Anthony has recently been to Parliament to launch \u2018Melanoma Task Force UK\u2019 to the new Government.<br \/>\nThe money was raised by a sponsored Sun Safety challenge that all of the children in school took part in.\u00a0 The response from the school community was tremendous and the school is delighted with the total amount raised.\u00a0 Many prizes were given to children who made a special effort.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/cavclosei.derby.sch.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0112.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1580\"
